In addition to Aluminum and Stone Age Decks, Kool View also specializes in building composite and wood decks.
When it comes to composite decks, we stick with the very best — Trex — the world’s #1 decking brand. Established in 1996, Trex invented and perfected composite decks, and are the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking products. Beyond creating outstanding products, we also love working with Trex because they’re innovative and environmentally responsible. You can find details on the entire Trex deck product line below.
For homeowners looking for a new deck at a lower price point, we offer beautiful treated wood decks — but with a twist. In addition to using the best 5/4 treated planking available, every wood deck we build is cured with the highest quality wood decking preservative. This is not a stain, it is a wood preservative that’s absorbed by the wood, protecting it from UV rays, fading and damage. It also offers water protection and gives treated wood a richer appearance.

Homeowners are sometimes concerned about the maintenance and durability of wood decking. That is where our new twist comes into play. With every wood deck we build, you get the best wood decking preservative available. It is not a stain. Instead, it’s a wood preservative that absorbs into the wood, protecting it from UV rays, fading, damage — and it also offers water protection. The preservative also gives treated wood a richer appearance, while preserving that appearance for years.

BENEFITS OF TREATED WOOD DECKING
One of the top benefits of treated wood is its resistance to both moisture and rot. The preservatives we use to treat the wood are a barrier to water. This makes treated wood highly versatile, as it can be used for both indoor and outdoor projects — essentially wherever wood would be exposed to contact with moisture or soil.
Another top benefit of treated wood is the fact that it’s resistant to termites and insects. The preservatives in the treated lumber work as a barrier against these pests, keeping your decking free of damage caused from insects or termites eating through the wood.
This all adds up to better durability than untreated wood, which means lower maintenance and more years of enjoyment of your deck. This durability is attained through a treatment process that saturates wood fibers with the preservatives we’ve mentioned. The result is a barrier that protects the wood’s structural integrity, even in harsh conditions like our Wisconsin winters.
While true that treated lumber may be a slightly higher cost than untreated wood, the extended lifespan and reduced maintenance means it’s actually a more economical choice long term. That said, our treated wood is also a less expensive choice when compared to Stone Age, aluminum or composite decks.
Something Madison-area homeowners are surprised about is the fact that modern treated lumber complies with stringent environmental standards for wood treatment, so it’s a sustainable option for deck building. The preservatives we use are regulated to minimize environmental impact and ensure safety.
